TOGETHER WE REACH THE GOAL

OUR GOALS

This year, the University Scholars Program at MSOE has devoted its time and efforts toward a community rejuvenation project on 1st Street and Center Street, known in the Milwaukee community as Gingerbread Lane. The street is known for its good deeds towards those less fortunate by providing affordable temporary housing for families and the citizens' kindness toward Milwaukee's children. We have taken on the tasks of revitalizing the abandoned Masonic Temple (2640 N. 1st Street), building and initiating the growing process for multiple raised beds in the neighborhood, repairing the playground next to the temple, and developing an outdoor community gathering area. We hope to incorporate community arts, free education of life skills, and other community center qualities into the neighborhood by enhancing the available resources.
